Dreamgate Wallband

Dreamgate wallband

This light, modernist wall application reinterprets the headboard, a traditionally heavy furniture piece. Dreamgate‘s surface of reinforced cork is screenprinted by hand, graphically inspired by star formations and vintage tufted leather furniture. As a headboard or art object, the long proportion encourages creative placement in any environment. Dreamgate can be trimmed easily to fit beds ranging from children’s to king-size. Self-adhesive backing makes installation simple.

Object Frames By Steven Haulenbeek

Object frames by Steven haulenbeek

These “object frames” by Steven Haulenbeek look as though a normal picture frame has been bent up horizontally away from the wall resulting in a sort of shelf/frame. As a result of my packratish tendencies, I have collected all sorts of small objects that I can’t seem to let go because there’s just something about them. Some of these things (and other everyday objects) are worthy of being viewed as artwork. But artwork in the home is usually 2 dimensional and resides on the wall. In few cases sculptural work or decorative pieces are set on pedestals or tables to be viewed. I see this object as somewhere in between. This frame can be used to display small 3 dimensional objects. Any object placed on its horizontal ledge becomes framed and achieves heightened value and attention. Object frames can be used to hold votive candles, photographs, plants and an endless other possibilities. They vary in size.

It’s a habit many of us share: checking our appearance in a mirror before we head out the door. But we can only see our front side. How can we make certain that we look good from every angle? Jan Habraken has the solution. His graceful, circular wall mirror comes equipped with a matching hand mirror. The magnetic backing ensures that the hand mirror fits snugly into place. Forbes & Lomax Design Switches

Forbes & Lomax design switches

When I recently moved in my most current home, I was absolutely into the idea of giving the entire home a “vintage” inspired feel, with a modern twist. My home is older and definitely needed some serious revamping- the carpet, the cabinets, the …well, everything. The last thing I thought I would be able to change was going to be the outdated outlets, switches and so on- there’s certain functional things that you just can’t avoid, and that definitely put a damper on your “style” options. Recently I’ve found a few designers that are creating custom, creative and new design options for switches and so on and my newest favorite are the designs by Forbes and Lomax.

Colorful Chalkboard Paint By Hudson Paint

hudson paint chalkboard paint

Last summer my boyfriend and I “remodeled” the home that we’re living in…and if that isn’t a bonding experience for you, then I’m not sure what is- having children is probably the next biggest thing? The remodeling experience brought us a lot closer together, it tested us and strengthened us and it also taught us a little bit about each other’s TASTE. When you’re living somewhere temporary you aren’t as worried about design taste and when you live separately from someone you love, you figure once you move in, your tastes will just become one…..unfortunately, it isn’t that easy. Turns out, my boyfriend and I have completely different tastes when it comes to design and one of the first big decisions was; PAINT COLOR. Oy voy- You like blue, he hates blue- he likes off-white, you like color….so many compromises, so many decisions to make.
